Brutally honest reviews and commentary on the latest music
Taken from the Who am I? page
1 – Not one good song. Trash; sometimes comically so.
2 – Maybe 1-2 decent songs, but generally boring and unmemorable.
3 – 2-3 good or decent songs, but generally boring and unmemorable.
4 – Some good songs, but heavily weighed down by the bad ones. No truly memorable songs.
5 – Floats between being good and bad. Maybe one particularly memorable song.
6 – A generally decent album that is weighed down by some either bad or boring songs.
7 – A generally good album that is weighed down by a couple of either bad or boring songs.
8 – A good album that either lacks the umph to get a 9 or has 1-2 songs that are noticeably not as good as the rest.
9 – A great album with no bad songs, plenty of memorable ones and maybe just one that is noticeably not as good as the rest. May just lack the umph to get a 10.
10 – An incredible and memorable album that is a must have in any music collection associated with the genre. Transcends genre in some cases.
I guess the main thing you’ll notice is the distinction I make between a good song and a memorable one. For me a memorable song one that’ll stay in your head after listening to the album and make you want to keep listening to it. A memorable song is one that’d you’d automatically think about in association with the album or artist. To be fair, a song could be memorable because of how bad it is, but in the context of my reviews, a memorable song is always a good one.
